You can temporarily disable indexing to check if it alleviates the issue. - To disable Windows Search Indexing: - Type "Services" in the Windows search bar and open the "Services" app. - Locate the "Windows Search" service, right-click on it, select "Properties," and set the startup type to "Disabled." 4. Check for Malware: - Even if AVG won't install, you can try using Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus program to scan your system for malware or viruses. 5. Check for Background Processes: - Sometimes background processes can lead to high disk activity. Close any unnecessary applications and check for any unknown processes in Task Manager. 6. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows system is up to date with the latest updates. Updates can sometimes fix underlying issues causing high disk usage. 7. Perform a Disk Cleanup: - Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files and free up disk space. This can potentially improve disk performance.
