Windows 7 hibernation attempt in my MAC book Air, by pressing the power button, fails

The hibernation attempt in my MAC book Air running Windows 7 with SP1, by pressing the power button gently, works ok for 70% time and puts PC into hibernation. But on 30% occasions, only screen goes off, but computer remains ON with my being able to change caps lock on and off. This forces me to hard boot the computer.

Help would be greatly appreciated
