I have got Windows 7 working by upgrading from Vista and now have a dual boot system. I cannot find out how to delete the vista partition or any other way of reclaiming half the disk! W7 won't let me partition, format or delete the vista partition. Can someone tell me how to do it?

Solution
To reclaim space from the Vista partition and remove the dual boot setup, you can follow these steps: 1. Back Up Your Data: - Before making any changes to partitions, ensure you have a backup of all your important data. This is a crucial step to avoid any accidental data loss. 2. Use Windows 7 Disk Management: - Windows 7 comes with a built-in tool called Disk Management that allows you to manage partitions. - To access Disk Management, right-click on "Computer" or "This PC" and select "Manage." In the Computer Management window, select "Disk Management" under the Storage section. 3. Delete the Vista Partition: - In Disk Management, locate the Vista partition. It will be labeled with the name or drive letter associated with Vista. - Right-click on the Vista partition and select "Delete Volume." This action will remove the partition, but not the data. The space will become unallocated. 4. Extend Windows 7 Partition: - After deleting the Vista partition, you will see unallocated space. - Right-click on the Windows 7 partition and select "Extend Volume." - Follow the wizard to add the unallocated space to the Windows 7 partition. 5. Remove Dual Boot Menu: - Once you have successfully extended the Windows 7 partition, you may need to remove the dual boot menu entry. - Press the Windows key + R, type "msconfig," and press Enter. - In the System Configuration window, go to the "Boot" tab. - Select the entry corresponding to the Vista operating system and click "Delete." This will remove the dual boot menu entry. - Click "Apply" and then "OK." 6. Reboot and Verify: - Restart your computer to apply the changes. - After rebooting, verify that Windows 7 boots directly without showing the dual boot menu. By following these steps, you should be able to reclaim the space from the Vista partition, extend your Windows 7 partition, and remove the dual boot setup with Vista. Remember to proceed with caution and ensure you have backups before making any changes to your disk partitions.
