Has anyone found a way to change the physical size of login screen icons?
I have 2 users on my Win7 32bit main PC.
The icons for Laura and Mario look tiny on my monitor (24" set to 1280x1024).

If there was a way to set the monitor resolution for login screen to say 600x800, but have it automatically reset to my 1280x1024 as soon as we log in, that would in theory address my concerns.

BTW, this is just one of those cosmetic things that bugs me, that's all.

TIA,
Mario

Solution
Changing the physical size of login screen icons in Windows 7 can be a bit tricky as the login screen typically uses a default resolution and scaling settings, which may result in smaller icons on a larger monitor. Here are a couple of possible solutions you can try to address the concern of tiny icons at the login screen:

Solution 1: Adjust DPI Settings

You can try adjusting the DPI settings to make the icons appear larger on the screen. Here's how to do it:
  1. Right-click on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution."
  2. Click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller" link.
  3. Adjust the slider under "Change the size of all items" and select a higher percentage.
  4. Click "Apply" and check if the icons appear larger on...

    Solution 2: Modify Registry Settings

You can also try modifying registry settings to change the login screen resolution temporarily. Please note that modifying the registry can potentially cause system issues if not done correctly. Here's how you can try it:
  5. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  6. Navigate to the following key:
    Code:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  7. Create a new DWORD value named DisableLogonBackgroundImage and set it to 1.
  8. This will disable the login screen background image, which can sometimes improve clarity. Please proceed with caution when modifying the registry, and create a backup before making any changes.

    Additional Note:

When you change the resolution at the login screen, it may not automatically switch back to your preferred resolution after logging in. Windows will typically use the last known resolution for the user profile. Feel free to try these suggestions and let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
