How do you know that someone tampered with your computer?
Could be any of the following to name a few
  • A failing hard drive
  • Malware
  • Too many processes running on your system
  • Excessive dirt built up on the system components especially the CPU heatsink

But it doesn't happen always only occassionally.

Then you'd need to use something like procexp to look at what processes are running and if any of them are using a lot of the system resources.

Having only 2GB of ram will certainly slow down your computer. The higher your RAM utilization is the slower your computer will be. Since all modern operating systems take advantage of virtual memory which essentially is that the OS makes every process think it has a much larger set of memory than what is available. The OS maps the virtual memory into page tables and swaps parts in and out of physical memory. These context switches can be expensive resource wise.
