What was the original OS. The 'copied' recovery partition won't work. You would have had to image it. Only then you could restore it.

It was 8.1
so recovery partition won't work?

OK, that's a different story. You actually 'created' a recovery stick - not just copied the recovery partition. That stick should work. But if you need another copy of 8.1, have a look here:
