I upgraded from Vista Premium recently and cannot get IE8 to open at all. I've done all the updates and still no luck.

Solution
It seems like you're facing issues with Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) after upgrading from Windows Vista Premium. Since IE8 is an outdated browser and might not be fully compatible with newer operating systems, there are a few things you can try to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps for Internet Explorer 8:

  1. Compatibility Mode:
    • Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon.
    • Select "Properties" and go to the "Compatibility" tab.
    • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows Vista.
    • Apply the changes and try launching IE8 again.
    []Reset Internet Explorer:
    • Open Control Panel and go to Internet Options.

    • In the Advanced tab, click on the "Reset" button to reset IE settings to default.
    • Restart your computer and check if IE8 opens.

    ]Check Add-ons:
    • Sometimes, incompatible or outdated add-ons can cause issues. Try running Internet Explorer without add-ons to see if it opens.
      • You can do this by typing "iexplore.exe -extoff" in the Run dialog (Win + R) and pressing Enter.
    []Security Software Conflict:
    • Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall to check if they are blocking IE8 from opening.
    [
    ]Run System File Checker (SFC):
    • Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. This will check for and repair any corrupted system files.
    []Create a New User Account:
    • Create a new user account and see if IE8 works in that account. This can help determine if the issue is account-specific.
    [
    ]Consider Using a Different Browser:
    • As IE8 is outdated and no longer supported, consider using a modern browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge for better security and performance. If none of these steps resolve the issue, you might want to consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows or using a more modern browser for a better browsing experience.
