I bought some new thermal 'goo' recently by OCZ. This was primarily for my chip upgrade but this afternoon I stripped the motherboard down and applied the thermal grease where-ever it was needed like northbridge, southbridge and graphics card. In some cases it's dropped temperature by 5c!
I can totally recommend this stuff..

sorry i only just found this post..
I'm not sure how long it's supposed to last for but I guess until the next time you remove the heatsink (as you should always replace with new).
My system does run cooler but it hasn't changed fan noise much really..

sorry i only just found this post..
