Hi, I've been using a MS Sidewinder keyboard with the Intellitype software and I got my macro keys assigned and working fine. However if a program is right-clicked and "run as admin" then the macro buttons will not work due to missing elevation of privileges for the intellitype processes.

Now I know I can work around this issue by running itype.exe itself "as admin" on startup and it will allow me to use the macro keys in admin-run programs. But this will then disable the keys in those programs that I do NOT run as admin.

Huh, I hope this makes sense to somebody. :) So, is there a way to have the macro keys working in both scenarios at the same time, i.e. in programs I run normally and also in programs I "run as admin"?

Thanks!

It seems like you're facing a common issue where macro keys on your MS Sidewinder keyboard stop working when running programs with elevated privileges (as administrator). This occurs because the Intellitype software needs administrator rights to function correctly alongside the macro keys. One workaround to keep the macro keys working in both scenarios is to try the following steps: 1. Use Task Scheduler to Run itype.exe with Highest Privileges: - Create a task in Task Scheduler to run itype.exe with elevated privileges at system startup. - This should allow the Intellitype software to have the necessary permissions for the macro keys to work in all scenarios. 2. Set Compatibility Mode for itype.exe: - Right-click on the...

Set Compatibility Mode for itype.exe: - Right-click on the itype.exe file and go to Properties. - In the Compatibility tab, check the option "Run this program as an administrator." - Apply the changes and restart your system to see if this helps. By setting up Task Scheduler to run itype.exe with highest privileges, you can potentially bypass the issue of macro keys not working when programs are opened with administrator rights. This should enable you to use the macro keys in all scenarios without having to manually adjust settings each time. Give these suggestions a try and see if they help to resolve your issue with the macro keys on your MS Sidewinder keyboard. Let me know if you need further assistance!
