Are there no secrets any more?
Intel's processor roadmap, which was probably going to be released at CES 2010, has leaked all over the world wide web.
If the documents are accurate then there are few surprises here, as the supposed roadmap included a slew of desktop chips bearing the Core i3, i5 and i7 labels.
The former is an entry-level processor that lacks overclocking features and runs at 2.93GHz or 3.06GHz. The mainstream Core i5 comes in dual-core and quad-core flavors with Turbo Boost. The high-end Core i7 has all the features of the Core i5 while increasing the number of processing threads to eight. Currently the Core i3 and i5 have only four threads.
Apparently Intel is planning a top-of-the-line hexa-core Core i9 with 12 processing threads which is probably taking the micky a bit. When PCLab accidentally published benchmarks of this impressive chip Intel asked it to be taken down so it seems to have legs as a rumour.
It will not be long till CES 2010, so we will soon get the confirmation of all the rumours anyway.
