Windows 8 Internet limited.

Good morning. I'm hoping someone can be of assistance. Right. My grandad has a HP 110 desk top computer running Windows 8.1. He's 92 so not exactly a wiz when it comes to computers. According to him the computer done an update which took about 45 mins. After that he's not been able to connect to the Internet. He was using a wireless dongle as the desktop doesn't has wireless capability. I've been over and directly connected the router via Ethernet cable but the computer comes up with limited connection. So no internet. I also am not a wiz with computers but have tried a few things. Even restoring the computer back to before the update. Still no joy. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks. If it's the only device on the network or if he has another device such as a phone. I would connect that to the network and see if it works. If it doesn't or he doesn't have another device I would suspect the router or modem. Power them both down or if it's a single device power it down for about 1 minute and reconnect it.

Thanks for the quick response. My phone connected to their router fine. Although the speed is very slow. They use a tablet for iPlayer etc and no issues there as well.

I'd still try rebooting the router. Also if you can copy the script here Network Diagnostic Information to a flash drive and run it and grab the log and upload it it may help us determine the issue.
