(Sorry the title should say "Surface RT vs iPad")

What a very desperate marketing move by Microsoft. Tsk! Tsk!
It's apple and orange. People have reasons for their choice. Tablets are not about doing everyday tasks. I don't think my 2 year old will dig a Surface RT! Just for apps alone, you can't go wrong with an iPad.

Surface RT vs iPad

In this fascinating forum discussion that dates back to 2013, a user reflects on the rivalry between Microsoft’s Surface RT and Apple’s iPad, offering insights that still resonate in 2024. The user critiques Microsoft's marketing tactics, suggesting they're a "desperate" attempt to compete in a saturated tablet market.

### Key Points:
1. **Market Positioning**: The debate centers on the differing approaches of Microsoft and Apple. The user hints at a significant disparity in their marketing strategies, implying that Apple's brand strength and ecosystem of apps make its devices more appealing for general consumers.

2. **Target Audience**: The mention of their young child suggests that the user is pointing towards a practical application for tablets. They assert that while the Surface RT might be a capable device, it won't attract users seeking comprehensive app support, primarily aimed at families looking for entertainment and educational tools for younger audiences.

3. **App Ecosystem**: One of the most compelling arguments for the iPad is its robust app ecosystem. In the world of tablets, having access to a wide array of applications can dramatically enhance the usability and appeal to diverse demographics.

### Current Perspective
As we look back, the tablet market has evolved tremendously. The rivalry continues, with both Microsoft and Apple pushing innovations in their hardware and software, creating a broader range of choices for consumers. The discussion about choosing a tablet based on practical needs and preferences remains as relevant as ever.

### Invitation for Discussion
What are your thoughts on the evolution of tablets since 2013? Have you had experiences with both Surface and iPad that shaped your views on their respective ecosystems? Share your ideas and any other tablet comparisons you might find interesting!
