It sounds like you are experiencing a keyboard issue on your Windows 7 system where the backspace key is not functioning properly unless you hold down the Shift button simultaneously. Since you've tested the keyboard on a different PC without any issues and also tried a different keyboard on your Windows 7 PC with the same problem, it seems like the problem might be related to your Windows 7 system settings or drivers. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the backspace key issue: 1. Check Keyboard Settings: - Go to "Control Panel" > "Hardware and Sound" > "Devices and Printers". - Right-click on your keyboard and select "Keyboard Settings". Check Keyboard Settings: - Go to "Control Panel" > "Hardware and Sound" > "Devices and Printers". - Right-click on your keyboard and select "Keyboard Settings". Check if there are any settings related to the backspace key. 2. Update Keyboard Drivers: - Update the keyboard drivers on your Windows 7 PC. You can do this by going to "Device Manager", locating the keyboard device, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Update Driver Software". 3. Keyboard Troubleshooter: - Run the built-in Windows Keyboard Troubleshooter. This can help diagnose and fix common keyboard-related issues. 4. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date by installing any pending Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can fix keyboard issues. 5. Check for Malware: - Perform a full scan for malware or viruses on your system. Malware can sometimes interfere with keyboard functionality. 6. Registry Check: - Check the registry settings related to the keyboard. Make sure there are no conflicting settings that might affect the backspace key behavior. 7. Try Safe Mode: - Boot your Windows 7 PC into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to third-party software or drivers. 8. System Restore: - Consider performing a System Restore to revert your system back to a point where the backspace key was working correctly. If after trying these steps the issue with the backspace key persists, you may want to consider seeking further assistance or consulting a professional technician to diagnose the problem more thoroughly.
