Its about 6 months old, have had this problem for ages thought it might be fixed so i tried to install windows 7 on it again and it failed as it did before.

Except this time it fixed itself, then died again after it did the same set of windows updates and has failed to fix itself again.

Thank you for any help.

Facing a persistent blue screen issue after installing Windows 7 on your laptop can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to address this problem:

1. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop and try to boot into Safe Mode. If you can get into Safe Mode without encountering the blue screen, it might indicate a driver or software issue.

    2. Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your Windows 7 installation is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, missing updates can cause stability issues.

    3. Update Drivers

  • Make sure all your device drivers are up-to-date, especially the graphics card, chipset, and network drivers.

    4. Check for Hardware Issues

    3. Update Drivers

  • Make sure all your device drivers are up-to-date, especially the graphics card, chipset, and network drivers.

    4. Check for Hardware Issues

  • Run hardware diagnostics to check if any hardware components are failing. This could include RAM, hard drive, or other critical components.

    5. Disable Automatic Restart

  • You can disable automatic restart on system failure to have more time to read the error message on the blue screen. This can provide clues about what's causing the crash.

    6. Review the Blue Screen Error Message

  • Take note of the error message on the blue screen. This message usually contains a STOP code that can help pinpoint the issue.

    7. System Restore

  • Consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when it was working fine.

    8. Check for Malware

  • Perform a full system scan for malware or viruses that could be causing instability.

    9. Reinstall Windows 7

  • As a last resort, consider reinstalling Windows 7 from scratch. Make sure to format the drive during installation to ensure a clean start. If the issue persists, you may want to consider upgrading to a more recent version of Windows, as Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and may not receive security updates. It's important to remember to back up your important files before proceeding with any troubleshooting steps that involve reinstalling the operating system. Feel free to follow these steps and let me know if you encounter any specific error messages or if you need further assistance.
