I've been ignoring this problem for several months, but now I'm just about fed up. Basically, every 30 seconds some sort of FPS lag spike will happen, and it'll last for about 2-3 seconds. It doesn't just happen when I do a certain thing, it'll happen no matter what I'm doing while the computer is on. It'll mess me up when I play games, or while I'm listening to music. One thing I have tried is going to task manager, and clicking on the "Processes" tab and seeing what pops up in there while it lags, but I haven't seen anything. Any advice? ):

Solution
Experiencing FPS lag spikes every 30 seconds can be quite frustrating, especially when it affects various activities on your computer like gaming or listening to music. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to address this issue: 1. Check for Background Processes: - Use Task Manager to monitor background processes while the lag spikes occur. - Look for any processes that consume high CPU, memory, or GPU resources during these spikes. 2. Update Graphics Drivers: - Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can cause performance issues. Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. - Visit the website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers. 3. Performance Monitoring: -...

Performance Monitoring: - Use tools like MSI Afterburner or HWiNFO to monitor system performance in real-time. - Check for any abnormal spikes in CPU, GPU, or memory usage during the lag spikes. 4. Disable Startup Programs: - Some applications running in the background at startup can cause performance issues. Disable unnecessary startup programs. - Use Task Manager or third-party tools like Autoruns to manage startup programs. 5. Check for Malware: - Perform a full system scan using Windows Defender or any reputable antivirus software to check for malware or viruses that could be causing performance issues. 6. Update Windows and Drivers: - Ensure your Windows OS is up to date with the latest updates. - Update other drivers such as chipset drivers, network drivers, and audio drivers. 7. Reset Power Settings: - Reset power settings to default by running the command powercfg /restoredefaultschemes in an elevated Command Prompt. 8. Check for Overheating: - Monitor the temperature of your CPU and GPU using tools like Core Temp or GPU-Z. - Ensure that your system is not overheating, as overheating can lead to performance throttling. 9. Hardware Check: - If none of the software solutions work, consider checking your hardware components such as RAM, hard drive health, and the overall system stability. By following these steps, you should be able to pinpoint the cause of the FPS lag spikes and improve the overall performance of your system. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
