I went to set up my microphone using the program from ease of access or whatever it is considered, and when i clicked on it, it always shows this warning

I've tweaked with it repeatedly and never seem to get this program to work except once, but my computer had an issue and i had to restore system defaults which caused this program to stop working again. My system seems to run on SB audigy (its a hand me down computer, so I don't really know a lot about my sound card) and i've messed with it and the most it has done is let me speak through the mic and hear it through the speakers, so i have a feeling it is the mic setup, not my sound card. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to how to fix this so i can use voice recognition again?

Yeah, hey...welcome to the forums here.

Two things should get you straightened out there.

1) Boot to safe mode + networking. The visit this thread and download, install and run Driver Sweeper in my link here:

Phyxion.net | Driver Sweeper | Products | Products

Use it to clean all the Creative sound drivers and software.

Reboot and install the Creative driver package for your card fresh from here:

Creative Worldwide Support

2) When done, open an elevated command prompt. Copy and paste this command to it with the mouse, then press enter and let it finish:

sfc /scannow

Don't even pay attention to what it says...simply reboot when it is done.
