Microsoft Switzerland has appointed Stephan Timme as the new General Manager for Enterprise Commercial Business, effective June 1, 2025. He succeeds Sonja Meindl, who is currently exploring new professional opportunities. In his new role, Timme will lead Microsoft's commercial business strategy and execution across Switzerland, reporting directly to Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, and serving as a member of the Swiss Leadership Team.
Timme brings over two decades of experience in the software, SaaS, and services industry, with a strong focus on digital transformation and organizational development. Prior to joining Microsoft, he served as Regional President DACH at SoftwareOne and was a member of the Global Extended Executive Board. In this capacity, he was responsible for strategic and operational leadership across key European markets. Before his tenure at SoftwareOne, Timme held several senior leadership positions at SAP over an 11-year period, including SVP and Head of Service Industries in Germany, COO and Head of Cloud Market Unit Switzerland, and Regional Vice President for Commercial Sales across both EMEA North and MEE regions. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business and IT from the Berufsakademie Stuttgart.
Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, emphasized the significance of Timme's appointment, stating, "Stephan’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as we deepen our engagement with Switzerland’s AI transformation journey. His commitment to customer success, combined with his extensive experience leading complex sales organizations across Europe, makes him well positioned to further help our customers and partners unlock the full potential of AI."
Timme expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, "Joining Microsoft Switzerland as General Manager Enterprise Commercial Business is a unique opportunity. I am inspired by Microsoft’s mission and the meaningful impact it delivers for customers and partners. I look forward to collaborating with the talented teams here to build on the strong foundation in place and to help accelerate innovation and growth for those we serve across Switzerland."
This appointment reflects Microsoft's ongoing commitment to strengthening its leadership team in Switzerland. Earlier this month, the company announced the appointment of Martin Stefik as Chief Financial Officer, effective June 1, 2025. Stefik brings 14 years of finance leadership experience at Microsoft, most recently serving as Commercial Finance Director for Microsoft's Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. He holds a master's degree in finance, banking, and investment from Matej Bel University in Slovakia.
The leadership team of Microsoft Switzerland now comprises the following members:
- Catrin Hinkel (CEO)
- Roger Altorfer (Director Customer Success Unit)
- Martin Haas (Director Small, Medium, Corporate Business)
- Marc Holitscher (National Technology Officer)
- René Hürlimann (General Manager Solution Sales)
