Windows 7 multiple crashes with the following CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT_8_PROC

comp has been running flawlessly for over a year. last night around 12am i started it up from sleep and it started crashing with BSODs, same one every time. when rummaging through the MEMORY.DMP file and it pointed to CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT_8_PROC:

nothing has changed on the system in a long time, hardware or software wise.
the last thing installed was tomb raider game( and that was 2 weeks ago and i havent played it in a week).
there were windows updates 2 days ago but i tried restoring to before those and still ran into the BSOD.

usually shows up when gaming (WoW) but twice occured while just surfing on firefox.
blew out the case and the fans with compressed air just in case, the cpu temps never go above 60C either.

any help would be appreciated!
