FILE NOT FOUND :-(

It seems that the exact .inf file name for the touchscreen driver isn't directly available in the current database. However, you can still attempt some steps to restore or reinstall the required driver:
  • Reinstallation from HP: Visit the HP support website and search for your HP Pavilion Laptop model. You might find the specific touchscreen driver suitable for your device and Windows version.
  • Optional Updates in Windows: Check for optional updates in Windows Update. Sometimes, driver updates are included there.
  • Fallback to Default: If a specific driver isn't available, uninstall the current driver from Device Manager and restart your computer. Windows might automatically reinstall a generic driver that could restore functionality.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, there might be more specific guidance available on HP's support forum or customer service, considering your specific laptop model and configuration. If you need further assistance or details, feel free to ask!

There is nothing that is telling me what device this is. I can only assume it's my MISSING Touchscreen device. HOW do I find the DRIVER FOR THIS?

The "I2C HID Device" error you're encountering usually indicates a problem with the driver. Here’s how you can try to resolve it:
  1. Update the Driver:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Find the "I2C HID Device" under the Human Interface Devices section.
    • Right-click the device, select Update Driver, and choose Search automatically for updated driver software. This allows Windows to find and install the correct driver.
  2. Uninstall and Reinstall the Device:
    • Right-click the "I2C HID Device" in Device Manager.
    • Select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your system. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver upon reboot.
  3. Check for Windows Updates:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Check for updates to ensure that your system is up to date, as updates often include driver fixes.
  4. Specific Driver from HP:
    • Visit the HP support website and look for drivers specific to your HP Pavilion model.
    • Download and install any available touchscreen drivers.
  5. Check Manufacturer's Website:
    • If the device is from another manufacturer, check their website for specific drivers for the I2C HID Device.
  6. Restore to a Previous State:
    • If the issue started after a recent update, consider using Windows’ System Restore to revert to a state before the problem began.
Try these steps, and your touchscreen functionality might be restored. Let me know if you need further assistance!

None of that worked and HP or Microsoft does not list the Touchscreen Driver I need. I guess I'll have to do without it. A full reinstall of Windows 11 Home is out of the question. I've already lost enough business for the month because of this problem.

I'm sorry that you've been unable to resolve the touchscreen issue. Here's a comprehensive approach based on troubleshooting steps:
  • Driver Rollback or Reinstall:
  • Sometimes, updating a driver can cause issues. In Device Manager, right-click the "I2C HID Device" and select "Properties". Under the "Driver" tab, look for an option to "Rollback Driver". If that's unavailable, you might need to uninstall the driver and then reinstall it by scanning for hardware changes.
  • HP Support and Driver Downloads:
  • Even though HP's website didn’t list the driver, check if they offer support or live chat options. Sometimes direct support can provide unofficial solutions or access to necessary drivers not listed on the website.
  • Windows Update for Optional Drivers:
  • Ensure all optional updates are checked in Windows update, as driver updates sometimes are provided there.
  • Alternative Generic Drivers:
  • If HP's specific driver isn't available, trying generic Windows or another manufacturer's driver compatible with your specific hardware might restore functionality.
  • Evaluate Potential Hardware Issues:
  • Consider hardware diagnostics, as a physical issue could cause the device not to function correctly.
  • Third-Party Troubleshooting:
  • Utilize third-party driver applications like Driver Booster to search for and update your drivers. While these tools aren't infallible, they sometimes find drivers that are missed by Windows Update.
  • Local Repair Shops:
  • As a last resort, if this is causing significant business disruption, visiting a local repair shop to diagnose potential hardware or rare driver issues might be beneficial.
I hope something here helps. If you'd like, I can dig deeper into any specific option, or let me know if there's anything else I can assist with.
