Hello Windows Insiders, Today, we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.1680 and Build 22624.1680 (KB5025303) to the Beta Channel. Build Details:
- Build 22624.1680: New features rolling out.
- Build 22621.1680: New features off by default. REMINDER: Insiders who were previously on Build 22623 will automatically get moved to Build 22624 via an enablement package. This approach is specific to the Beta Channel only and helps differentiate devices with new features turned on from those with features off by default. Insiders on Build 22621.xxxx can opt to install the update that enables new features (Build 22624.xxxx).

We are previewing a revamped widgets board with a larger canvas (3-columns if supported) and new zones for quick access to glanceable widgets from apps and services. [Rolling out gradually to monitor feedback]Changes and Improvements:

- New features for app defaults in Windows 11 mentioned in this blog post are included in this build. App pinning features will be introduced in future flights.
[Widgets]:
- Animated icons for Widgets on the taskbar. These animations trigger on hover or click on the Widgets taskbar entry-point or when a new widget announcement is displayed. Currently,
only a few weather and finance icons are supported.Fixes in Build 22624.1680:
[File Explorer]:
- Shift + Right-clicking on a file or folder properly opens "Show more options" again.
- Narrator now reads access keys correctly after pressing the menu key.
[Input]:
- Fixed issue where touch keyboard and PIN entry didn’t appear on login screen for touch capable PCs.
[Live Captions]:
- Fixed clipping in live captions text for non-English languages.
- Addressed hidden language feature installation progress in Language & region settings.
- Enhanced ARM64 device language recognition support in Language & region settings.
[Notifications]:
- Fixed issue where 2FA codes in parentheses weren’t
recognized.[Task Manager]:
- Searching for "service host" now returns results.
- Improved performance of expand/collapse View options in Processes page.
- Fixed overlap of search and Task Manager icons in title bar.
- Search box is no longer cropped at the top when maximized.
- Improved Task Manager reliability.
- Double-clicking Task Manager’s title bar correctly maximizes the window again.
Fixes for BOTH Builds 22621.1680 & 22624.1680:
- New! Firewall settings now support application group rules.
- Fixed the legacy Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) and new Windows LAPS feature managing the configured local account password when the legacy LAPS .msi file is installed after the April
11, 2023 Windows update. - Supported Islamic Republic of Iran's daylight saving time change order from 2022.
- Fixed DirectX error with older Intel graphics drivers.
- Fixed Resilient File System (ReFS) stop error issues.
- Fixed protected content display issue when minimized using Taskbar Thumbnail Live Preview.
- Unified Write Filter (UWF) now turns off correctly when called via WMI.
- Fixed visibility issue with the Chinese input method’s first suggested item.
- SMB Direct endpoints now available on systems using multi-byte character sets.
- Fixed a Mobile Device Management (MDM) exception stopping printing.
- Fixed LSASS process stop error (0xc0000005) and subsequent machine restart.
- Addressed Microsoft Edge
IE mode Tab Window Manager stop response. - Signed WDAC policies are now properly applied with Secure Boot enabled.
- Updated app icons for mobile providers.
- Fixed MySQL command failures on Windows Xenon containers.
- Task View now displays correctly after closing a full screen game.
- Fixed PIN sign-in issues with Windows Hello for Business on Remote Desktop Services.
- Microsoft Edge IE mode pop-ups open in the foreground.
- Fixed Administrator Account Lockout policies reporting in GPResult and Resultant Set of Policy.
Known Issues:
[Search on the Taskbar]:
- Bing button in taskbar’s search box may display daily rotating search highlight before returning to Bing
button after restart.[Widgets]:
- First-time launch of widgets board displays old 2-column layout placeholders even if 3-column support is available.
