Windows 7 NTOSKRNL.EXE BSOD. Only during a specified time-frame.

Hey guys.
My overclock is 150+ passes of Linx stable, but there seems to be a weird issue.
Let's say I run Linx during the day/evening - everything is fine and the passes keep going. But when I run it overnight, it BSOD and restarts to a blinking underscore (_). And this only happens during 2AM~6AM approximately.

For instance, under last night's log for Linx, there was only 15 runs before the computer was restarted. Yet, when I re-ran it earlier today, it ran fine for 4+ hours. (70 runs)

Would appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, welcome.

Well, to be perfectly honest, the first rule of thumb when you are having bsods is to set default clock speeds. I have a few things to say on the software side, so at least take that into consideration.

1) Update your old PowerISO:

SCDEmu SCDEmu.SYS Sun Nov 08 22:27:29 2009

PowerISO - Create, Edit, Compress, Encrypt, Split, Mount, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter, Virtual Drive

2) Use Driver Sweeper in safe mode to clear all those old Creative drivers. DS is needed for this:

Phyxion.net | Driver Sweeper | Products | Products

Reboot and install the latest driver for your hardware from Creative's site:

Creative Worldwide Support

3) Uninstall whichever video overclocking tool you are using currently like EVGA Precision or Afterburner, as the driver is ancient and near definitely causing issues:

Code:
 2: kd> lmvm rtcore64
start end module name
fffff880`0bcea000 fffff880`0bcf0000 RTCore64 (deferred)
    Image path: RTCore64.sys
    Image name: RTCore64.sys
    Timestamp: Wed May 25 02:39:12 2005 (42941D90)
    CheckSum: 00004158
    ImageSize: 00006000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Install only the very latest version found. I recommend ATI Tray Tools. Let me know if you need copy of the latest.

4) If there is no update to CoreTemp, then uninstall it. The driver is pre-RTM and you really don't want it on the system for that reason:

ALSysIO64 ALSysIO64.sys Sun Apr 19 15:41:04 2009

If there's an update, go for it.

5) Uninstall MagicDisc...old known faulty driver under Win7:

mcdbus mcdbus.sys Tue Feb 24 05:34:07 2009

6) Uninstall Daemon Tools. It is one of the most notorious crashers of Windows 7. Then use this installer/uninstaller to remove sptd.sys. Be careful to click on Uninstall while using:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

Use PowerISO above for disc emulation.

7) Update video card driver:

atikmdag atikmdag.sys Tue Sep 28 21:41:26 2010

Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

8) Update Realtek lan driver:

Rt64win7 Rt64win7.sys Wed Jun 23 05:10:45 2010

RTL8111

9) These drivers are ancient and need attention. Update them to latest. If there is none newer that July 2009, uninstall instead:

awechomd awechomd.sys Mon Feb 19 05:35:10 2007
aw_host5 aw_host5.sys Mon Feb 19 05:35:33 2007

10) Install this Microsoft patch to update this Intel storage driver:

iaStorV iaStorV.sys Wed Apr 08 12:57:17 2009

An update that improves the compatibility of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 with Advanced Format Disks is available

Then visit your motherboard website to download and install the latest Intel driver software from there, which will update this driver:

iaStor iaStor.sys Thu Jun 04 21:53:40 2009

Thanks for your timely response.
Here's what I've done so far:

  1. Updated PowerISO to latest version
  2. Had to leave creative drivers, since I'm using Auzentech Prelude and on the latest Auzen drivers
  3. I had the latest beta version of Afterburner, but I removed it and re-installed the latest official version of Afterburner. I've tried Ati tray tools, but there doesn't seem to be any voltage adjustment features.
  4. Uninstalled Coretemp and installed Realtemp.
  5. Uninstalled MagicDisc Along with MagicISO
  6. Uninstalled Daemon Tools
  7. Updated video driver to Catalyst 10.10e. (It seems that 10.10e is more recommended than 10.11)
  8. Updated Reatek Lan to latest
  9. Uninstalled PCAnywhere since I don't really need any longer.
  10. Requested the microsoft hotfix and patched up.

I will keep you updated tomorrow on the BSOD. Since it only happens during late nights during stress testing, I will know tomorrow morning.
