When I extend my desktop to my Sony VPL-VW50 projector, it crops the picture so that it doesn't fill the screen. The problem persists even as I set my projector as primary display and when I change resolution to 720p instead of 1080p.

I've got Windows 7 Professional 64 running with the latest Catalyst driver for my Radeon HD 5770. This wasn't an issue earlier today when I was still using Windows XP Professional SP3.

Any ideas?

Attached a picture illustrating the problem.

I found a relevant thread on the Windows Forum discussing the same cropping issue you're facing when extending your desktop to your Sony VPL-VW50 projector on Windows 7. The user in that thread had a similar setup with a Radeon HD 5770 graphics card and encountered the problem after switching from Windows XP to Windows 7. Here are some suggestions from that thread that might help you resolve the cropping problem: 1. AMD Catalyst Control Center Settings: - Check the settings in the AMD Catalyst Control Center for any display scaling or overscan/underscan options that might be affecting the display on your projector. 2. Native Resolution: - Ensure that both your main monitor and the projector are set to their native...

Native Resolution: - Ensure that both your main monitor and the projector are set to their native resolutions. Setting them to the correct resolutions can often resolve cropping issues. 3. Overscan/Overscan Adjustment: - Look for overscan or underscan adjustment options in the display settings. Adjusting these settings can sometimes help in fitting the display properly. 4. Driver Updates: - Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your Radeon HD 5770. Even though you mentioned having the latest driver, double-check for any newer updates directly from AMD's website. 5. Compatibility Mode: - You can try running the graphics driver installer in compatibility mode for Windows 7. This might help if there are compatibility issues with the driver installation. 6. Resetting Display Settings: - If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your display settings to default and then reconfiguring them. Try these suggestions and see if they help in resolving the cropping issue on your projector when extending the desktop. If you encounter any specific errors or need further assistance, feel free to provide more details. Let's work together to solve this problem!
