Hi

I absolute dont like the way Win 7 behaves, when connecting a camera.

In XP, I could choose which pictures to import, and give them names, and XP would number them for me, for instance import into C:\Pictures\2009, and the pictures would be named 2009 001.jpg and so on.

Now I dont understand how to do it, and if I have imported some pictures, I'm not allowed to do it again. WHAT???
Why should Win7 decide if I can import my pictures again, what if I delete a picture by mistake?

Is there a way to make it work like in "the good old days"?

Thanks for any help.

Michael

Hello Michael, I understand your frustration with the changes in how Windows 7 handles importing pictures from cameras compared to Windows XP. In Windows 7, the process can be a little different, but it still allows you to manage your imported pictures effectively. Here's how you can import and name your pictures manually in Windows 7: 1. Manual Import Process: - Connect the camera to your computer. - Open Windows Explorer (Windows key + E). - Locate your camera in the list of drives and devices. - Double-click to open your camera. - You should see folders containing your pictures. Navigate to the folder with the pictures you want to import. - Select the pictures you want to import (you can use Ctrl + click to select multiple...

Navigate to the folder with the pictures you want to import. - Select the pictures you want to import (you can use Ctrl + click to select multiple pictures). - Right-click on the selected pictures and choose "Copy" (Ctrl + C). - Navigate to the folder on your computer where you want to store the pictures. - Right-click and choose "Paste" (Ctrl + V) to copy these pictures to the folder. 2. Naming Convention: - After pasting the pictures, you can manually rename them to follow the naming convention you prefer. Right-click on a picture, choose "Rename," and enter the desired name. Windows will automatically add a numbering sequence if you have multiple files with the same name. 3. Re-importing Pictures: - Windows might prevent you from re-importing pictures that it thinks you've already imported to prevent duplicates. However, you can bypass this by importing pictures manually as described above. By manually copying and managing your pictures, you have more control over the process and can ensure that you don't accidentally lose any images. If you encounter any specific issues during this process, feel free to ask for further assistance! Let me know if you need more detailed instructions or have any other questions.
