I'm trying to help a friend to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7 Ultimate, but i get an error.
The error is something like:
An unexpected error occurred. Restart the installer.

The computer, is a Compaq CQ2000.

Solution
You cannot really downgrade Windows 8, obviously. You need to do a clean install. If you are seeing this error from Windows 7 PE loader when you are booting from disc to install the operating system, there may be something wrong with the ISO or the disc itself. You might want to try creating a different type of boot media like a USB flash drive if you have access to the ISO.
Instead of downgrading, why not try something like Classic Shell and it's free. This will give you the look and feel of windows 7 but will all the benefits of window 8.
