I'm running windows 7 (Release candidate) and I have a usb that is requesting a format and certain occurred as a result of the usb getting an electric shock.

How?

I had the usb plugged into my laptop while it was switched on and I plugged in an ethernet cable to the laptop. It happened as I was plugging the other ethernet cable end into my xbox 360 ethernet port, my arm was touching the usb, my palm touching the back part of the xbox and my fingers on the ethernet cable end. As I plugged the cable into the xbox I felt a shock go through my fingers and out through my arm into the usb.

Has anyone had a similar experience and were you able to reformat the drive, then continue using the affected drive and successfully recover the data stored on the drive at the time of the issue.

You have to be careful doing that as static discharge can occur if you touch a metal part.

Is your flash drive working at all.

Does it show up in windows Explorer...................or in Disk Management?

If so,try copying the files to a different location, then right click on it and choose format.

If the drive letter doesn't show up, I'm afraid your flash drive is fried.
