Resetting Password for User on W7 Machine

We have a server that shows multiple users at the login screen. An employee who just left didn't pass along any of the passwords needed to log in and we're stuck.

If we reset the password for one of the users shown, will it affect data/apps/etc for any of the others?

There's a needed program on that particular server that runs all the time and I don't want a password reset for one of the users to change anything.

Is this a stand-alone server or part of an active directory environment? Resetting a user password only impacts that user and also a program on a system in most cases should be available for anyone on that system.
