before there was an option to 'restore folders on startup' in windows explorer, but in build 7057 the option is gone, and if you restore the registry key, that doesnt work either (as it is missing in this build). anyone know if the option has just moved somewhere else, or if its premently gone? it was there in vista as well as build 7000.

In Windows 7 build 7057, it seems that the option to 'Restore Folders on Startup' in Windows Explorer has been removed. This change can be frustrating for users who relied on this feature for quick access to specific folders upon startup. Given that restoring the registry key also does not work in this build, it's likely that the option has been permanently removed. Startup Folder Shortcut: - You can create a shortcut to the folder you want to open at startup and place it in the Windows startup folder. This way, the folder will open automatically when you log in. 3. Third-Party Utilities: - Explore third-party utilities or tools that might offer the functionality you are looking for. Some software solutions provide enhanced customization options for file and folder management. While it appears that the specific built-in option to restore folders on startup is no longer available in Windows 7 build 7057, these alternative methods could help replicate or enhance the desired behavior. If you prefer a built-in solution, you might need to adapt to the changes implemented in the newer build.
