I use Windows 7 build 7068, and when I set the screen resolution to the portrait mode (1050x1680) the fonts get a bit fuzzy. It seems like everything was move a fraction of a pixel to right, so when you have a black pixel next to a white one, the white pixel gets a bit of color (seems a little purple). Anyone knows how to fix this?

Solution
It seems like you are encountering an issue with font rendering and color fringing when setting the screen resolution to portrait mode on Windows 7 build 7068. This kind of issue can be related to subpixel rendering, especially when transitioning from landscape to portrait orientation. Here are a few steps you can try to address the font fuzziness and color fringing:

ClearType Tuning:

  1. Adjust ClearType: Windows includes a tool called ClearType Tuner to enhance the display of text on LCD monitors. You can run ClearType Tuner to configure ClearType settings for your display.

ClearType Tuning:

    • To access ClearType Tuner, type "cttune" in the Start menu search box and follow the on-screen instructions to fine-tune ClearType.

      Display Settings Adjustment:

[]Calibrate Display: You can also try calibrating your display settings to ensure proper color and text rendering.
    • Right-click on the desktop and select "Screen resolution."
    • Click on "Portrait" orientation and check if there are any calibration options available for text and display clarity.

      Driver Update:

    [
]Graphics Driver Update: Ensure that your graphics card driver is up to date.
    • Visit the manufacturer's website for your graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest driver for your specific model.

      System Compatibility:

  2. Compatibility Mode: If the issue persists, you can try running the application in compatibility mode.
    • Right-click on the application's shortcut or executable file.
    • Go to Properties > Compatibility tab.
    • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select an earlier version of Windows.

      Additional Tips:

      • Monitor Color Calibration: Adjust the color settings on your monitor to ensure accurate color representation.
      • Disable GPU Scaling: Some GPUs have scaling settings that might affect the display in portrait mode. Try disabling GPU scaling in the graphics card settings.
Give these suggestions a try and see if they help improve the font rendering and color fringing issue when using portrait mode on Windows 7 build 7068.
