Bumped my Windows 10 x64 VM up from 1 processor & 2Gb RAM to 2 processors & 4Gb RAM. WOW, what a difference!! Immediately a very, noticeable, performance improvement.
Something else I found that improved preformance of VMs was to put the VM on a different internal drive from the system and software. I did this after adding a second internal HD a couple of years ago.
