I have Windows 7, Office 10 both Home Premium and use Incredimail for emails on both my laptop and my PC. Why when my accountant sends me a snip image it arrives in my inbox perfectly on my Laptop and in my PC it is just an embedded formula (url) not a snip image. Similarly some pdf files arrive perfectly as a pdf on my laptop but on my PC some files (sent as pdf) arrive in my inbox as a .dat file yet both my laptop and pc use exactly the same software and opersting system. Can you please help

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing issues with how attachments such as images and PDF files are displayed in your email client, Incredimail, on your Windows 7 systems. There could be several reasons why attachments are not displaying correctly on one device and displaying fine on another. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve these issues:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Default Programs:
    • Ensure that the default programs for opening specific file types (like PDF) are set correctly on both your laptop and PC.
    []Attachment Handling Settings:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Default Programs:
    • Ensure that the default programs for opening specific file types (like PDF) are set correctly on both your laptop and PC.
    []Attachment Handling Settings:
    • Check the attachment handling settings in Incredimail on both devices to verify that file types are not being blocked or treated differently.

    ]Update Incredimail:
    • Make sure that Incredimail is up to date on both devices. Outdated versions might have bugs affecting how attachments are displayed.
    []Different Security Settings:
    • Check if there are any differences in the security settings of your antivirus or firewall software between the laptop and PC. Some security software might interfere with attachments.
    [
    ]File Association Settings:
    • Verify that file associations for PDF and image files are correctly set on both devices.
    []Incredimail Settings:
    • Review the settings in Incredimail to ensure that they are consistent between your laptop and PC.
    [
    ]Try a Different Email Client:
    • To see if the issue is specific to Incredimail, try using a different email client and see if the attachments display correctly.
  2. Email Configuration:
    • Check the email configuration settings in Incredimail on both devices to ensure that they are identical.

      Additional Tips:

      • If attachments are arriving as .dat files, it could be due to incorrect encoding during transmission.
      • Some email clients or mail servers may block certain file types as a security measure.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, it might be useful to contact Incredimail support for specific guidance on troubleshooting attachment display issues within their application. Feel free to go through these steps, and let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
