Hey all, new to this forum. Thought I would pass along what I have working.

I have installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7 with the following software:

    Acrobat 9 Pro
    Photoshop 9 CS2
    Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 beta for W7
The Admin tools pack for Windows 7 (googled it)
    Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.7
    Zune 3.1
Office 2003 (because I could not get Office 2007 Ultimate installed)

    All of this works perfectly.

    What did not work:
Symantec EndPoint Protection 11.0.4. Installed LiveUpdate first and then the client (as recommended on Symantec's own forums), but it blue screens every 15 minutes, so I installed Kaspersky.
Office 2007. Tried that first. Only thing installed at that point was the KB918367 patch to avoid corrupting media. Office 2007 Gets about 75% complete, errors out and rolls back. I forget the error name but I'm fine with Office 2003 for now.

    Hope this helps.

    I've installed:

APC powerchute personal edition 2.1.1 - 64bit version Vista
    Epson 3170 scanner - 64bit version Vista
Avira AntiVir Personal - Free edition 32 bit version

The only other thing I have tried is the catalyst 8.12 drivers but having problems.

    working fine for me:
    ad-aware
    ffdshow
    half-life 2
    hijackthis
    iTunes
    java
    firefox
    nero 9
    vlc
    windows live mail
    winSCP
    guild wars
    handBrake
    last.fm
    miranda IM
    safari
    winrar
    utorrent

    don't work:
    daemon tools
eset smart security used to BSOD every 2 hours or so. I THINK I fixed this by re-installing my network driver, but I'm not sure

please note that I upgraded from vista, so some of these programs were installed under windows vista. so I can only tell you that they RUN, but not if the installer will let you install them.

1)Windows Update (it freezes and doesn't let you update)
2)Sony Acid Pro (doesn't even intall in compability mode)
3)Norton 360 (I experience my first Blue Screen Of Death after I installed it)
4)Windows Media Player (songs sound robotic when intalling programs, it sometimes forces you to restart your computer)
5)Task Manager (End Process Tree and End Process doesn't work, when programs are froozen you are forced to restart your computer manually)
6)Internet Explore 8 (it randomly restarts when you click on some links or when you have over 10 Tabs open)
7)Sleep mode (after a while when your computer goes into "Sleep" mode or you manually order it to "Sleep" it randomly turns on.
My top concern as of 1/17/09 with Build 7000

basically your tasks aren't being completed because you have limited internet and the uncompleted tasks pile up and your resources are taxed. Do you automatically log onto live messenger for instance? Is something trying to update? Have you unsent e-mail?

my internet is super fast, a piuni msn isn't going to slow it down, and plus I am never on msn nor use microsoft mail thingy.
I stream Netflix on HD, its not the internet.

Whats my real concern here is that after I got the windows update to download the update, it gives me an error when it tries to install it.

Can't sleep either. I did a clean/boot install so I had no conflicting software. Will things work well enough to open Administrative tools>system configuration>tools and there are all sorts of diagnostic tests there?

according to the experts at tecknet help isn't working in the beta because it isn't populated. so I don't know how one would find what error 63 is? there is a reliability monitor just search reliability at start>search files and folder and type reliability> view problem history but I believe you have to run all the monitors under Administrative tools> computer management first.

I had a similar error with Update (mine was number 000084 or similar). However, I tried running Update again immediately and it downloaded and installed the update successfully.

In line with the original topic of the thread - I've installed the following programs (which haven't been mentioned yet afaik) successfully:

    7-Zip
    avast! antivirus
    Firefox
    PowerISO
    Live Mail & Messenger
    Picasa

    Hi all,
I'm trying W7 7000 on different computers (dtop & laptop).
For the moment the biggest issue is the antivirus. I tried Kaspersky, Avg, Avast and Norton.
They all install well and they run for some hours then...BSOD continuosly.
It seems that the problem is more appearing when i have connected network drives.
My PC is in a domain...when i'm not at home the problem is not present but when yhe domain is reachable...BSOD

Maybe the antivirus tries to scan network drives...

    Any idea ? :)

    Also..... (apologies for dups)

    Flight Simulator X
    TrackIR
    VIPRE
    Turbo Passwords
    Foxit Reader
    Bullzip PDF
HP Deskjet 6980 and D5360 (no additional drivers required)
Epson CX5800F (although, come to think of it, haven't tested the scanner)
Bluetooth connections to mobile phone, Palm PDA, Mouse (no need for Widcomm driver replacements, it seems)
    Display Fusion
    Second Copy 7
SqueezeCenter and Squeezebox 2 music player
    Logitech Harmony Remote Software

    What doesn't .....

    Blaze Media (cannot initialize devices)
Some Vista gadgets - backgrounds don't render
Revo Uninstaller - on Win7 64-bit, but the webite says it doesn't support 64-bit yet. Doesn't stop it running though, which may be a problem, but not Win7's!!! I should clarify that I only SUSPECT it was a little overzealous with cleaning up iTunes uninstall!!

    Untested...

    Logitech Quickcam (Communicator?)
    Quicken

That's about it, although I have several utilities I have not tested, and likely won't for a while.
