Has anyone found a way to install .net framework v1.1? I use Soudforge v8.0 to edit audio files and it won't install unless .net 1.1 is installed on the machine. I have tried to install .net v1.1 and the service pack and can't get it to install.

Solution
Installing .NET Framework 1.1 on modern operating systems can sometimes be a bit tricky due to compatibility issues. Here are a few steps you can try to install .NET Framework 1.1:

Method 1: Compatibility Mode

  1. Right-click on the installer for .NET Framework 1.1.
  2. Select "Properties" and go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  3. Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an earlier version of Windows (like Windows XP).
  4. Apply the changes and try running the installer again.

  7. Find the "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" policy.
  8. Set it to "Enabled" and make sure to check the box that says "Contact Windows Update directly to download repair content instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)".
  9. Try to install .NET Framework 1.1 again.

    Method 3: Manual Installation

  10. Extract the contents of the .NET Framework 1.1 installer using a tool like 7-Zip.
  11. Navigate to the extracted files and locate the installation packages.
  12. Run the installers manually in the correct order (i.e., .NET Framework 1.1 first, then the service pack).

    Method 4: Virtual Machine

If the above methods do not work, consider creating a virtual machine with an older version of Windows like Windows XP and installing .NET Framework 1.1 within the virtual environment. If you encounter any errors during the installation process, please provide more details on the specific error messages so that I can assist further.
