Hi - can anyone help please?

I'm running Win 7 RC Build 7100. Generally IE8 will display all images on most websites with absolutely no problem, except when I do an Image search in either Google Images or Bing – the thumbnails will not display - I get placeholders followed by red crosses in the corners or just go straight to the red crosses (I can follow the links and see the original images on their own sites, no problem).

I've reviewed all advanced options in IE 8 Tools etc, cleared the cache, tried in and out of compatibility view, and with all security turned on and off. No change - it just seems to be these pages.

Any suggestions please?

Solution
It seems like you're encountering an issue with Internet Explorer 8 not displaying thumbnails in Google Images or Bing image searches on your Windows 7 RC Build 7100 system. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:

  2. Go to Tools (gear icon) > Internet Options.
  3. Under the General tab, click on "Delete" under Browsing History.
  4. Check the box for Temporary Internet Files and click Delete.

    Check Security Settings

Ensure that the security settings in Internet Explorer are not blocking the display of images:

Ensure that the security settings in Internet Explorer are not blocking the display of images:
  5. Go to Tools > Internet Options.
  6. Navigate to the Security tab.
  7. Make sure the security level is set to Medium or lower for the Internet zone.
  8. You can also try adding Google Images and Bing to the Trusted Sites zone.

    Disable Add-ons

Certain add-ons or extensions might be interfering with the display of images. Try disabling them temporarily:
  9. Go to Tools > Manage Add-ons.
  10. Disable unnecessary or suspicious add-ons and try accessing the image search pages again.

    Update Internet Explorer

As Windows 7 RC Build 7100 is quite old, consider updating Internet Explorer to a newer version if possible. An updated browser version might resolve compatibility issues.

    Compatibility View

Try toggling the Compatibility View settings for the websites causing the issue:
  11. Open the website.
  12. Press the Compatibility View button in the address bar to see if it fixes the image display problem.

    Reset Internet Explorer

If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting Internet Explorer settings to default:
  13. Go to Tools > Internet Options.
  14. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
  15. Click on Reset under Reset Internet Explorer settings. Please try these steps one by one and see if any of them resolve the issue with image thumbnails not displaying in Google Images or Bing on Internet Explorer 8. Let me know if you need further assistance!
