Windows 10 Trying to install microsoft.net_sdk.5.0.408 x64 on a windows 10 machine. Keep getting errors

As the title states, i have admin access and am trying to install the sdk in order to get some debugging done on this machine. I keep getting errors from windows: 0x80090009.



The account i'm using has full control permissions.



The logs seem to be showing a permissions error, at least according to any information I can find online that's remotely relevant:

well the error message is a bad key which means the issue is in
provider: {59d9f5d4-8e28-4e05-b207-9deff597277c}

it could be that key is not for your system i.e, marked private, it could be the actual address is blocked for reason like being stored in c Program files under a password protected folder or it could just be a type error in the address

as the current Net for Windows 10 is 6.12
personally i'd goto core/6.0.12.md at main · dotnet/core and get the file dirrect from Microsoft

All the versions of .net sdk i've tried get me exactly the same error and the log file as above looks identical. And they've all come directly from windows' website.

walk throught these four steps with me;
1 goto core/6.0.12.md at main · dotnet/core and get the X64 SDK file

2 run that as admin

3 install it

4 show us the result you get

that way we know a error must be in your system and not the files or the servers

Tried 6.0404, and tried 5.0.408, and tried 4.72. No dice.
