Partition 1: Win7 on Home network: WMC broke & could not re-install/sfc/repair fix. Wanted setup a 2nd prtn/wmc/S'dust HDHR3 tuner h'ware without losing my recorded TV which will still play, but not from a 2nd prtn (copy protection).

2nd prtn Win7 is not discovering the HR3 device, & seems confused about being on the same Home network with another Win7 PC.

Is there an conceptual contradiction here with 2 prtns trying to belong to Home?

Solution
It seems like you've encountered issues with setting up a second partition in Windows 7, specifically for WMC (Windows Media Center) using an HDHomeRun tuner. The issue seems to involve compatibility between the two partitions and network recognition problems. Here are some steps that might help resolve the issue: 1. Network Configuration: - Ensure that both partitions are part of the same home network. Check the network settings and ensure they are properly configured. - Verify that network discovery and file sharing are enabled on both partitions. 2. Security Software: - Check if any security software or firewall is blocking the network communication between the partitions. Temporarily disable them for testing purposes. 3...

HDHomeRun Setup: - Check the configuration of the HDHomeRun tuner. It should be recognized by both partitions. Verify its setup on the network. 4. Permissions: - Ensure that appropriate permissions are set up on both partitions to allow the sharing of media and network resources between them. 5. Router Configuration: - Check your router settings to ensure that it allows traffic between the two partitions securely. 6. Media Center Troubleshooting: - In Windows Media Center, you may need to run the setup again and configure the tuner to be recognized by the second partition. By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the compatibility and network recognition issues between the two partitions in Windows 7. If you encounter any specific error messages or difficulties during the process, feel free to share them for more targeted assistance.
