Dear sirs
I have installed Win 7 (x86) PR RTM
And VERY happy with it.
I have to use Visual Studio 2008.
This gave me many troubles, until I discovered that after installation of Garmin USB driver 2.21, then VS2008 is suddenly not able to save any changes at all, in any projects.
Also, if the Garmin driver is installed before VS2008, then it causes VS2008 installation to hang at "Executing action:HxMerge_VSIPP..."

Does anyone happen to have this bug reproduced? Or can provade a means to have both installed?

Kind regards
Tore

Hello Tore, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008, despite the issues you are facing with them in conjunction with the Garmin USB driver. The problem you described seems to be related to a conflict between the Garmin USB driver and Visual Studio 2008. Here are a few steps you can try to potentially resolve this issue: 1. Reinstall Visual Studio 2008: - Try reinstalling Visual Studio 2008 after ensuring that the Garmin USB driver is not installed. This might help avoid the conflict during the installation process. 2. Install Garmin USB driver after Visual Studio 2008: - Install Visual Studio 2008 first and then install the Garmin USB driver. This sequence might help in avoiding the conflicts...
Hello Tore, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008, despite the issues you are facing with them in conjunction with the Garmin USB driver. Install Garmin USB driver after Visual Studio 2008: - Install Visual Studio 2008 first and then install the Garmin USB driver. This sequence might help in avoiding the conflicts you are encountering during the installation process. 3. Check for Updates: - Ensure that both Visual Studio 2008 and the Garmin USB driver are updated to their latest versions. Sometimes, updates can include bug fixes that address compatibility issues. 4. Compatibility Mode: - You can try running Visual Studio 2008 in compatibility mode. Right-click on the Visual Studio 2008 shortcut, go to Properties, and navigate to the Compatibility tab to enable compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. 5. Virtual Machine: - If the above steps do not work, consider running either Visual Studio 2008 or the Garmin software in a virtual machine. This way, you can isolate their environments and potentially avoid conflicts. If none of these solutions work, you might need to choose between the Garmin software and Visual Studio 2008 on the same system. It's possible that these two programs have inherent conflicts that cannot be easily resolved. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions.
