Truecrypt 6.1a is not working properly with Windows 7 Build 7000 When a Truecrypt-Volume is mounted it is not possible to create/access a system restore point or to change the setting. A popup says that the VSS-service is not working. Can somebody verify that? Thx djbrandt

Solution
It seems like you are encountering an issue with Truecrypt 6.1a on Windows 7 Build 7000 where mounting a Truecrypt volume prevents you from creating or accessing a system restore point, and you receive an error stating that the VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) is not functioning correctly. To address this issue, you can try the following steps: 1. Check VSS Service Status: - Verify the status of the Volume Shadow Copy Service by following these steps: - Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. - Look for the Volume Shadow Copy service in the list. - Check if the service is running. If not, right-click on it, select Properties, and set the Startup type to Automatic, then...

Restart Truecrypt: - Try restarting Truecrypt after ensuring that the VSS service is running. This might help Truecrypt to interact properly with the VSS service. 3. Update Truecrypt: - Truecrypt 6.1a is an older version, and there might be compatibility issues with newer Windows updates. Consider updating to a more recent version of Truecrypt or transitioning to a more modern encryption tool like VeraCrypt, which is a fork of Truecrypt that is actively maintained. 4. Run Truecrypt as Administrator: - Running Truecrypt as an administrator might help in resolving any permission-related issues that could be interfering with the VSS service. Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the issue with Truecrypt and the Volume Shadow Copy Service on Windows 7 Build 7000. If the issue persists, consider transitioning to a newer encryption tool for better compatibility and security.
