Hi

I have been running W7 Beta w/ an Edirol FA-66 firewire sound card with great success until the Beta expired yesterday. The key to making the Edirol sound card work was to go into Device Manager and select the Legacy firewire driver.

I since installed W7 RC and the legacy firewire driver is no longer an option. Where did it go? The button to roll back driver is grayed out. If I try to search for drivers it just tells me I have the latest driver installed. This is no good since the latest firewire driver does not work with the Edirol (or PreSonus for that matter).

HELP!

Solution
It seems like you're facing an issue with your Edirol FA-66 firewire sound card after upgrading to Windows 7 RC, where the option for the Legacy firewire driver is no longer available. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Force Install the Legacy Driver: - You can try force installing the legacy driver. Here's how you can do it: - Open Device Manager. - Right-click on your firewire device. - Select "Update Driver Software." - Choose "Browse my computer for driver software." - Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer." - Check the box that says "Show compatible hardware." - From the list, choose the "IEEE 1394 bus host controllers" and select the legacy driver. - Click Next to install...

Manually Install the Legacy Driver: - If the above method doesn't work, you can try manually installing the legacy driver by downloading it from the manufacturer's website or from a trusted source. 3. Compatibility Mode: - You can also try running the driver installation program in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Right-click on the driver setup file, go to Properties, and set the compatibility mode to Windows 7. 4. Driver Signature Enforcement: - In some cases, driver signature enforcement can cause issues with installing legacy drivers. You can temporarily disable driver signature enforcement to see if that helps. Try these steps and see if you can get the legacy driver installed for your Edirol FA-66 firewire sound card. Let me know if you need further assistance!
