I've always wondered if background tasks continue to run while the PC is in sleep mode or hibernation. Are there actions that I can take to wake it up? What happens if I'm running a scan and the PC goes into hibernation or sleep mode? Please help me out........

Solution
The computer does nothing when in sleep or hibernation.

You can prevent your computer automatically entering sleep mode or hibernation by changing your power settings in the control panel. Power management - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

Although your computer may be set to automatically enter sleep mode after a specified time period, some applications and/or processes may stop this from taking place or wake the computer to perform tasks, such as anti-virus software - check the settings of such individual applications to see if this is the case.
