For many months now, in fact since I installed windows 7 last year.
On numerous occasions I get these sort of symbols (as above) embedded in emails or webpages.
Any suggestions on how to get sort the problem out would be welcome.

Solution
For each of your browsers and e-mail programs, change the encoding to Western (ISO-8859-1), with additional encodings set as Unicode (UTF-16).
e.g. FF:

I've tried it on Thunderbird first and now have "team’s" instead of
don�t.
Exactly, that means you are on the right track, try Unicode as well as other formats until it shows right.
