Hi guys:

Is there a reason/is it normal for restarts to take longer than fresh boot up in Windows 8?

Thanks and God bless.

Hi,

the reason why booting from cold is quicker than a reboot is that when you turn off the pc Win 8 enters a type of hybrid sleep. All services etc are stopped but not switched off so when the system is booted up again it basically starts where it left off.
Rebooting on the other hand means that everything gets turned off and then restarted again which is why it takes longer.

Thanks for the prompt response. I sort of figured it was something like that, but trust an experienced person better.

This may have to be a new thread, but ... I've seen #s ranging from a few thousand to 10-15,000 windows 8 apps. in the store app I don't think there are even thousands. is there a way to search all apps in the Store app on the Start screen?
