Installed Windows 7 ultimate on our media centre PC today and have managed to get it working
nicely on the PC alone.
We have 3 XBOXs which we use as extenders around the house and have worked perfectly
under Vista.
When I go to add extender, it shows me the box to put my number in but by the time I have
the number from the Xbox, the media centre has crashed. It then crashes each time I press
Add extender.
Anyone got any bright ideas as to what is going wrong as I am stumped.
Thanks
Gilly

Hello and welcome to the Windows7forums,
Go to Start > Run, and type services.msc.
Make sure all Media Center services are enabled and started, especially the Windows Media Center Extender Service.
Have you by chance disabled any other Services in the Service manager?
Some services have to be enabled for the Extender service to operate properly.
These are:
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Function Discovery Provider Host
DCOM Server Process Launcher
Make sure these are all stated and enabled as well.
Required for
Windows Media Center Extender Service
Go to Start > Run, and type services.msc.
