Windows 7 Window sizes are always auto-shrinked after Monitor off+on? How to avoid?

I have a Samsung TFT monitor with resolution 1920x1080 which is connected by HDMI cable.

Assume I open a couple of windows (IntExp, WinExplorer, notepad,...).

Now (e.g.late in the evening) I turn off manually physically (only) the TFT monitor to save power but let the computer continue run over night to perform some computations.

When I return back in the morning and turn on the TFT monitor all previously opened Win7 windows are shrinked/resized and re-positioned into the upper left corner with an approx. size of 800x600.

Presumably Win7 gets a signal which let it fall back to some VGA 800x600 mode and reduces automatically the windows sizes and position of all open windows.

How can I prevent this?

The windows should keep their sizes even if I turn off+on the TFT monitor.

This works on other Win7 systems successfully so it must work here as well.

Thank you
Peter

Check your monitors menu settings. Do you use the monitor for sound or do you have a separate speaker setup? The only difference between DVI and HDMI is that HDMI carries the sound signal....both do HD. If you have a DVI cable handy, switch out cables and check to see if it's an HDMI cable issue.
