Disable Automatic Updates:​

1. Metered Connection Setting:
   • Set your mobile hotspot as a metered connection. This tells Windows to restrict background data usage for that connection. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Select your network, click Properties, and toggle on the "Set as metered connection" switch.
   []Pause Updates:
   • You can pause updates temporarily. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Click on the "Pause updates for 7 days" option. You can also adjust the Active hours settings to avoid updates during specific times.

     Limit Data Use from Metro Apps:​

   • Open Settings > Privacy > Background apps. Turn off background data access for apps you want to limit.
   []Restrict App Permissions:

   • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage to monitor overall data consumption and identify apps using the most data.
   []Disable Live Tiles:
   • If you use live tiles on the Start menu, consider disabling them if they constantly consume data.
2. Background Data Usage Control:
   • Review each app's settings to see if they have options to control background data usage and disable it as needed. By using these settings and configurations, you should be able to limit the mobile data usage on your Windows 10 laptop and prevent it from consuming excessive data, especially when connected to your mobile hotspot.
