New Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds 22621.2191 & 22631.2191 Released

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.2191 and Build 22631.2191 (KB5029336) have been launched for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel. These builds bring a range of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. Here's a summary highlighting the key updates from the release:



Features in Build 22631.2191:

- HDR Background Support: Users can now set JXR files as desktop backgrounds, which render in full HDR if on an HDR-capable display.

- Narrator Natural Voices: New natural voices in French, Portuguese, English (India), German, and Korean, offering enhanced browsing and reading experiences.



Features in Build 22621.2191:

- New Features: Rolling out new features, which are off by default within this build.

- Automatic Transition: Insiders previously on Build 22624 will be moved to Build 22631 with new features enabled via an enablement package.



Improvements in Build 22631.2191:

- Windows 365: Public preview of Windows 365 Switch, allowing seamless transitions between a Windows 365 Cloud PC and local desktop.

- Taskbar & System Tray: Temporarily removed never combined mode settings under Taskbar settings, for future feature enablement.

- File Explorer Enhancements: Added "Share" to the context menu, included more fields in the Details pane, and other fixes for improved usability.



Fixes in Build 22631.2191:

- File Explorer Fixes: Addressed various issues causing File Explorer crashes, memory leaks, and display inconsistencies.

- Dynamic Lighting: Resolved an issue where devices might display as empty squares in Personalization settings.



Known Issues:

- Multiple ongoing fixes are in progress across different areas, including Explorer.exe crashes on the login screen, transparent context menu backgrounds in File Explorer, and more.



About the Beta Channel:

- The Beta Channel previews experiences closer to final customer releases, with features tested in parallel with the Dev Channel for upcoming Windows versions.
