Microsoft introduces the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.2265 and Build 22631.2265 (KB5029347) to the Beta Channel, bringing a range of enhancements and fixes to Windows Insiders. Here’s a summary of the key improvements in this update:



Changes and Improvements in Build 22631.2265:



Emoji Enhancements:

- Upgrade to the color font format COLRv1 allowing for the display of more expressive emoji with a 3D-like appearance featuring gradients, providing richer communication capabilities.



Settings:

- The new Settings homepage introduced in the previous Beta Channel flight is now accessible to all Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel.



Fixes in Build 22631.2265:



General:

- Addressed an issue causing explorer.exe to crash on the login screen when attempting to enter safe mode.



Taskbar & System Tray:

- Resolved an issue causing certain apps in the taskbar to appear cut off without a rounded corner when many app windows were open but the taskbar was set to not combine.

- Fixed an explorer.exe crash issue affecting the correct appearance of the taskbar post device boot-up.



File Explorer:

- Implemented fixes to enhance File Explorer launch reliability and performance in specific scenarios.

- Rectified issues such as blank desktop icons, crashes when navigating to the Gallery with a large number of images, long delays while saving files to OneDrive locations, and more.



Settings:

- Fixed problems with missing labels in various Settings categories over several flights and optimized Settings performance for users with the new Home page.



Dev Drive:

- Improved the auto-mount feature for Dev Drives after upgrading to a new build and enhanced error messages if Dev Drives fail to format.



Task Manager:

- Addressed scenarios where search results would persist even after being cleared, sporadic Task Manager crashes, and issues with the Search Icon and Task Manager interface.



Known Issues:

- Note on some strings not being localized to the selected language, to be resolved in a future release.
