Explore Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25276: Task Manager, Networking Enhancements & More

Source: Windows Insider Blog Hello WindowsForum users! Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25276 to the Dev Channel. This update brings a variety of improvements and new features as well as several key fixes. Let's dive into what's new and improved in this build.

Key Updates and New Features​

Task Manager Enhancements​

One of the standout features in this build is the introduction of live kernel memory dumps (LKDs) in Task Manager. Designed for developers, this feature allows for the collection of live kernel memory dumps, aiding in troubleshooting while letting the OS continue to
operate. Here's how you can capture an LKD:

1. Go to the Details page in Task Manager.
2. Right-click on the System process.
3. Select "Create live kernel memory dump file". The dumps will be saved in the following directory:

   Updates to Cloud Storage in Settings​

   The Settings app now includes updates to provide a visual overview of your cloud storage usage. Notably, Outlook attachment data will now be included in your cloud storage metrics.

   Enhanced Network Troubleshooting​

   The traditional Network Troubleshooter is being replaced with a more modern experience via the Get Help app. This app aims to
   diagnose and fix up to 30 common network connectivity issues.

   Improvements and Fixes​

   General Improvements​

   • Updated the design of the compatibility issue dialog to match Windows 11 aesthetics.
   • Various updates to the design of the search box in the Start menu.

     Taskbar & System Tray​

   • Addressed issues where taskbar previews and explorer.exe crashes were occurring.

     Search on the Taskbar​

   • Fixed layout issues specific to right-to-left languages like Arabic.
   • Ensured persistence of Taskbar Settings across updates.

     File Explorer​

   • Fixed an explorer.exe crash related to loading recent files.

     Voice Access​

   • Resolved issues where voice access was not working correctly for entering
     numbers in the Calculator app and other commands.

     Widgets​

   • Fixed an issue causing the widgets board to get stuck open, affecting click functionality on the left side of the screen.

     Windows Defender Credential Guard​

   • Enhanced clarity when remote desktop attempts default credentials use while Credential Guard is enabled.

     Known Issues to Watch Out For​

     While this build brings many improvements, there are a few known issues:
   • Windows Hello facial recognition may not work on Arm64 PCs.
   • Longer-than-expected update times for some users.
   • Taskbar may be cropped in half when using the tablet-optimized taskbar.
   • Several issues with Task Manager dialog rendering
     and theme application.

     Developer Focused Updates​

     Developers can download the latest Windows Insider SDK at the Microsoft Insider SDK page. This includes several NuGet packages providing granular SDK access and CI/CD integration.
