Users of Windows 11 have long expressed frustration with sluggish system performance, sometimes citing unresponsive applications, slow boot times, or inconsistent frame rates during gaming. Now, Microsoft is seeking to directly address these reports with an innovative, data-driven approach: the ability for users to submit real-time performance logs whenever sluggishness strikes. This feature, recently introduced in an Insider test build according to reports from The Verge and LiveMint, marks a notable shift in how Microsoft collects and acts upon feedback from its vast user base.

For years, the Windows Feedback Hub has provided a channel for users to voice concerns, suggest features, or flag bugs. Traditionally, users described their issues through text and could attach screenshots or basic logs. However, the lack of real-time contextual data has often hampered Microsoft's ability to quickly and precisely diagnose the root causes of performance issues, especially those that occur sporadically or only under certain workloads.
With the new update rolling out to Windows Insiders, Microsoft has automated the collection of performance logs. Now, when a noticeable slowdown occurs, users can submit feedback and, with their permission, the system will automatically gather detailed telemetry—such as process activity, resource usage, application traces, and system events—at the moment the anomaly is detected.

The Feedback Loop, Revolutionized

This move aims to expedite the notoriously challenging process of identifying and fixing performance issues in diverse hardware environments. PC makers and component vendors have shipped millions of unique device configurations. By tapping into crowdsourced, real-time telemetry when problems occur, Microsoft stands a far better chance of isolating the variables that cause one machine to stutter while another, with apparently identical specs, runs smoothly.
In a statement to Insider program participants, the company explained: “Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback when experiencing PC issues related to slow or sluggish performance, allowing Feedback Hub to automatically collect these logs, which will help us root cause issues faster.” The company appears intent on moving from a reactive stance—waiting for patterns in user complaints—to a proactive, data-centric feedback loop.
Addressing a Spectrum of Complaints
Since its launch in October 2021, Windows 11 has been beset by intermittent performance complaints. Some users have found that, despite hardware comfortably exceeding system requirements, everyday tasks such as launching the Start menu, resizing windows, or running demanding games feel less responsive compared to Windows 10.
Technical forums and platforms like Reddit have been filled with anecdotal evidence: some gamers report drops in frame rates despite running the latest drivers, while productivity-focused users have noted delays when switching between multiple desktops or invoking system menus. Performance bottlenecks are particularly frustrating for users of high-end or new PCs, raising questions about underlying software inefficiencies.
Microsoft has regularly released cumulative updates addressing such concerns. For example, optimizations to the Taskbar, notification area, and quick settings
