Explore Windows 11 Version 24H2: Exciting Features & Updates

  • Thread Author
Greetings Windows Insiders!

We are excited to announce the availability of this year's annual feature update, Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100.712), in the Release Preview Channel for a sneak peek before its full release later this year. This version includes numerous new features and enhancements like HDR background support, energy saver, Sudo for Windows, Rust in the Windows kernel, Wi-Fi 7 support, voice clarity improvements, and more. It also encompasses several refinements across the Windows ecosystem. Some notable additions include a scrollable view of the quick settings flyout from the taskbar, the ability to create 7-zip and TAR archives in File Explorer, and improvements for Bluetooth Low Energy Audio devices.

As part of this update, the Copilot experience on Windows is evolving into an app pinned to the taskbar. This transition enables users to enjoy a traditional app experience with the flexibility to resize, move, and snap windows based on user feedback, enhancing the overall user experience. The WIN + C keyboard shortcut is being phased out in favor of new devices equipped with a Copilot key or using the shortcut with the pinned Copilot app.

Installation and Updates:

- Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can install Windows 11, version 24H2 using the Windows Update "seeker" experience in the Settings menu.

- Once updated, your PC will continue to receive new servicing updates automatically through Windows Update.

- Commercial customers enrolled in the Windows Insider Program for Business can begin validating this latest version on PCs within their organizations.

Known Issues and Fixes:

- An earlier reported known issue involving a Pcasvc.dll error dialog pop-up has been addressed in this release.
