Windows 11 has introduced a feature called "Click to Do," designed to enhance user productivity by providing contextual actions based on the content displayed on your screen. This feature analyzes text and images, offering quick actions such as summarizing content, creating bullet lists, rewriting text, and more.
Understanding Click to Do
Click to Do is a smart interaction tool that activates when you highlight text or select images. For text, it offers options like:
  • Copy: Copies the selected text to the clipboard.
  • Open with: Opens the text in applications like Notepad.
  • Search the web: Conducts a web search using your default browser and search engine.
If the highlighted text is an email address, Click to Do provides an option to send an email using your default email application. For website URLs, it offers to open the link in your default browser.
When interacting with images, Click to Do presents actions such as:
  • Copy: Copies the image to the clipboard.
  • Save as: Saves the image to a specified location.
  • Share: Shares the image through various platforms.
  • Open with: Opens the image in applications like Photos, Snipping Tool, or Paint.

  • Remove background: Removes the background of the image using Paint.
System Requirements
To utilize Click to Do, your PC must meet the following specifications:
  • Neural Processing Unit (NPU): 40 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second).
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM.
  • Processors: 8 logical processors.
  • Storage: 256 GB capacity.
If your system meets these requirements, ensure that your Windows 11 is updated to the latest version to access Click to Do.
Enabling or Disabling Click to Do
You can manage the Click to Do feature through two methods:
  • Using Windows Settings:
  • Press Windows Key + I to open the Settings app.
  • Navigate to Privacy & Security from the sidebar.
  • Click on Click to Do and toggle the switch to enable or disable the feature.
Once enabled, activate Click to Do by pressing Windows Key + Q and selecting the desired action.
  • Using the Registry Editor:
  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Navigate to the following path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsAI
  • Right-click on the WindowsAI key, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it DisableClickToDo.
  • Double-click on DisableClickToDo and set its value to 1 to disable Click to Do.
  • To re-enable the feature, delete the DisableClickToDo key or set its value to 0.
Privacy Considerations
Click to Do processes information locally on your device. The analysis begins only when you actively engage with the feature and ends upon exit. It does not analyze content from minimized applications or share information unless you choose to perform actions like web searches. Temporary files created during these actions are stored in:
C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Temp
These files are not retained long-term, ensuring your privacy.
Conclusion
Click to Do is a powerful addition to Windows 11, leveraging AI to streamline tasks and enhance productivity. By understanding its functionalities and managing its settings, you can tailor this feature to suit your workflow and privacy preferences.
